Our traditional start of the OCWW year with four presentations by Fred Shafer has been excellent as always, and it has prepared us to tackle new writing projects. Fred’s subject this year was Climactic Scenes. He taught us about the process of building up to a climax and the expected impacts of those key scenes. His case studies covered the spectrum from children's stories to novels. This is my second year as president of OCWW, and I will definitely assert that you get more out of your membership when you become part of the leadership group. Beyond the meetings we have continuing exchanges of information and become true colleagues as we pursue the decision-making process. There will be more opportunities for volunteer leadership as we go forward. Please contact Brenda Rossini, our Nominations Chair, to express your interest in helping to guide OCWW into the future. Thanks to all of the past and ongoing officers and board members for their efforts and support. Just remember that we are all involved in OCWW to build our skills and to encourage each other along the arduous path to writing success. Our goal should be to learn, write, and create … every day. — Dick Davidson,
